The future in the kitchen: What's next?

The kitchen is the heart of every apartment or house. And—who would have thought—washing up is one of the unavoidable tasks in this room. Could this topic evolve further? Will we eventually see robots or self-cleaning dishes? We've been thinking about what the future of washing up looks like. In this article, we'll explore the next innovations in the kitchen and how sustainable approaches could change the way we wash dishes. We'll focus specifically on dishwashing detergents, sponges, sustainable materials, and practical kitchen sets :-)
- Sustainable dishwashing detergents: In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of environmentally friendly cleaning products. The next innovations in the kitchen sector could focus on sustainable dishwashing detergents. Here, we're thinking of formulations that are biodegradable and use natural ingredients. Wait, stop. We already have something like that, right? Right! We already offer sustainable ingredients in our store. Furthermore, innovative packaging such as refill bags or fully compostable bottles could reduce or even completely eliminate the use of single-use plastic. In any case, we are very interested in bringing the first fully compostable bottles to market. We are currently experimenting with pressed wheat straw as a material for the bottles.
- Revolutionary sponges: Sponges are indispensable helpers for washing dishes, but they often have a limited lifespan and can quickly develop bacteria and odors. Future innovations could focus on sustainable and durable sponges made from natural materials such as plant fibers or recycled plastics. Additionally, antibacterial coatings or self-cleaning properties could improve hygiene and extend the sponges' lifespan. We're also constantly refining our sponges. Hey - a large proportion is already compostable!
- Use of sustainable materials: The use of sustainable materials in the kitchen is becoming increasingly important. Innovative materials such as bamboo, recycled glass, or stainless steel with a low carbon footprint could be used in the development of kitchen utensils and tableware. These materials are durable, environmentally friendly, and can help reduce dependence on disposable products. While we in Germany have already made considerable progress in eliminating disposable products, southern European countries, in particular, still use a large number of disposable utensils. There's still potential here!
- Practical kitchen sets: The next innovations in the kitchen sector will also focus on practical kitchen sets that simplify and optimize the dishwashing process. For example, sets could be developed that are specifically tailored to different kitchen tasks and contain all the necessary utensils and cleaning tools. This would not only save time and space but also reduce water and energy consumption. :-)
- Smart technologies for dishwashing: In an increasingly connected world, smart technologies could also revolutionize dishwashing. The integration of sensors and artificial intelligence into dishwashers could enable them to detect the soil level of dishes and automatically use the optimal amount of water and energy.
We're excited about the future and are confident that everyday kitchen washing will continue to evolve, even if we sometimes feel like nothing has changed in the last few decades :-) Please help us shape this development by leaving a comment. We'd love to hear from you!
